We never got to experience the slow service because they would not even allow the possibility of seating a table of 6. Obviously there can only be a maximum of 5 people in any group setting in this establishment. No possibility of pushing chairs or heaven forbid a table together. The staff had an attitude that screamed that I do not want money or repeating customers. The cherry on top was that we walked past only a couple of hours later to find a large party of at least 10 sitting outside with tables pushed together. Do not go here unless you like be treated poorly.

Solid breakfast food. We had the biscuits and gravy and the egg sandwich. The egg sandwich came with breakfast potatoes which was THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD, FOR REAL. They were very flavorful, crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, with time and Parmesan. The biscuits and gravy weren't the best ever, but definitely edible. The whole meal was very affordable. We were pretty happy with our random stop.

What a little gem. I had to wait for a flat tire to be fixed around the corner last summer (July) and lucky for me discovered this place. I had the banana strawberry French toast which was absolutely delicious to eye and taste buds. Coffee was terrific as well and I'm not much on coffee. I was there early and during the week so very quiet. I will definitely plan to go back. Don't recall the menu being very extensive but it's a great local Bistro with just the right things on the menu. Not sure what weekend crowd would be like.

Really great and simplistic food, for a good price. Recommend the scramble with sausage, mushroom, and cheddar. With nice service on top of that.

The Steak Frites and Chicken Pot Pie are awesome! I'd love to branch out on their menu but can't bear to miss out on these faves!

We had another great meal at The Bistro today. The service and food were wonderful. There were three of us and we each had something different. The burger, turkey burger and barbecue chicken sandwich were made to perfection. We are able to eat here a couple times a month and always look forward to it. Thank you for providing a great place to dine in Three Oaks. We recommend this place to everyone. The Bistro is always on our list for a great meal.

Tried to eat there today for lunch. Caught the eye of the waitress as we came in. It was about 1:40 so not exactly prime busy time or too crowded. 8 minutes later, no service yet. Another couple then came in and sat down at the table next to us. They got their menus before us. They then got to order, and the waitress walked away, still not paying any attention to us--water, hello, are you ready to order, etc. So after another 5 minutes of being ignored, we decided to leave, as a lot of restaurants here close at 2 and this place didn't seem the least bit interested in us. We can't comment on the food here cuz we didn't get to order any, let alone try it. I did track the waitress down (uh, she wasn't around where you could see her, she kept in the back a lot) to kindly hand back our menus to her and tell her why we were leaving without ordering, without getting water, or without getting silverware, while later-arriving guests got waited on before us. Btw, the second party in that group disappeared and wasn't around when the waitress went to get their order. The waitress was snippy to me when I handed her the menus, as if it were my fault we hadn't gotten to order. She didn't care about taking our order then ("can I take your order now and I'll get it right in, sorry") so we knew it was best that we left before trying to deal with her again. Again, she knew we came in before the couple she moved ahead of us on her priority list, and I hope they enjoyed their treatment. They'll likely give this place the raves ("you come in here and get priority treatment over others waiting to be served who were already there before us!") but we did resent this lack of attention and so we went elsewhere and can't give this place a positive recommendation. Been eating in this small town since 1982, leaving pretty good tips. But we're not going to try Elm Street Bistro again as we must not have the charisma to get waited on.

We stopped here midway through a windy but beautiful thirty mile bike ride. The waitress was very nice, had info about the area, including the bike museum and the Apple Cider Century ride in September. The bistro has a really good feel to it. The counter/ bar is made from maple salvaged from the bowling alley across the street. The food we had (French onion soup, tomato basil soup, cookies) tasted homemade, fresh. The menu looked very interesting, I will definitely return. I thought the price was very reasonable.

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly waitress. Our food was fresh but boring - one note, no depth of flavor.

This place was a lucky find. We were wandering the streets of Three Oaks, looking for free books and an inexpensive lunch, when I drove by Elm Street Bistro. Parking for free (!!) outside its front door, we perused the menu, deemed it satisfactory, and went in. We arrived about 2:00pm, and the restaurant closes at 3:00pm, so we literally had the place to ourselves. It is cute and clean. We started with good coffee, and we ordered the BLT on 7-grain bread for me, and the BBQ chicken sandwich for The Ancient One. I was already pretty hungry, so maybe I was predisposed to like my sandwich, but let me tell you, after taking the first bite of that BLT, I was ready to write a hymm of thanksgiving. That was maybe the best BLT I've ever had. Who can say if it was the special bacon, the bread, the in-season tomatoes, or even if the chef says novenas to the spirit of James Beard, but oh my God, was it good. It came with a choice of potatoes, and I took the rosemary new potatoes. They were good, but I didn't have a lot of room left after slowly eating that BLT and swooning in ecstasy between each bite. There was also a big pickle on the plate, which I enjoyed mostly - again, too full to eat the whole thing. Somehow, I managed to consume the entire sandwich. The Ancient One was very pleased with the BBQ chicken sandwich. When it arrived, I thought, that sandwich is way too big for T.A.O., and we are going to take half of it home. Uh-uh. She ate the whole thing. She even licked her fingers. She chose the french fries as a side, and was very happy to get a pickle as well. Like me, she finished off the sandwich, but the fries and pickle were too much for her. Reasonable prices, free parking on the street, and a sunny day. It doesn't get any better than this. Elm Street Bistro is open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served all day.

What can be said that hasn't been said? Their sausage gravy is perfect? Their prices are perfect? Walk in, and you may retch from the cuteness. Or you may be enraptured in the warm fuzziness. What initially seems to be some kind of smarmy mid 90's "the dream is still alive" aging hippy yuppie vibe on the part of the owners is quickly revealed as part of a seamless, flawless whole once you start eating. The people who own/run this place truly love what they are doing, and they truly love you for stopping in.

We were very surprised to find this gem in such a small town. One night, we placed an order to go to enjoy in our rental house. Some in our group wanted the chef's salad that was on the lunch menu. The owner quickly stated that he was happy to do that. I had the mushroom ravioli special and, even with the travel time, it was fantastic. I want back for a wonderful breakfast the next morning. We spend lots of time in Florida, and the biscuits and gravy were very Southern (in other words, yummy!). Easy place to recommend.

We selected the Bistro for our breakfast on a cold, cloudy January Sunday. The yellow interior and getting the table next to the fireplace warmed us nicely! There was one breakfast special on the chalkboard, Scrambled Mess. With such a name, we asked the waitress the contents, and once explained both ordered. We got a very tasty combination of cubed potatoes with sausage gravy on top and perfectly done (moist, not dry) scrambled eggs on top of that, sprinkled with cheese. And a nice biscuit at the side. I have posted a pic.

Awful Service. Decent food. Had breakfast/lunch here over the weekend. When we arrived the restaurant was about 2/3 full and we were a party of six so we elected to sit at the counter where we could immediately be seated. Well, it took 40 minutes after we placed our order to get our food and no one had ordered anything exotic -- oatmeal, omelettes, french toast, and pancakes. During this time we watched other people who came in after us get their food before us. A half hour into this wait, I asked our waitress what the deal was and she said that our food was coming out right now which was not true because we waited another 10 minutes for it. When she finally served the food, she said that she was sorry for the delay, but we would have been much more understanding if she would have told us that early on. We weren't on a tight schedule, but it would have been nice to know when we could expect our meal. The food, upon which this rating is based, was fine. I would rate the service 1 star. Service in many breakfast/lunch places in this part of Michigan is slow and haphazard (for example, Luisa's, and Blue Plate), but this was a new low for us. It will be a while before we return.

Had the pleasure of having lunch at Elm Street Bistro recently. It was terrific. My wife and I had the pot roast sandwich and my daughter had the ribeye steak sandwich. Wow! Each was a least two meals and hearty,, tasty and terrific. Their house potato's were especially terrific. The ambiance was terrific and service great. I'm going to especially congratulate the owners on a very nice job in remolding the location. I love the colors, decor and especially the large and very clean open kitchen. Three Oaks and Harbor Country congrats on having a very nice new eatery in the neighborhood.

One of my favorite places in Harbor Country. The menu is minimal, however it offers something for everyone. Menu offerings are always well-priced, prepared to order with fast & friendly service. For breakfast, you'll enjoy their oversized omelets prepared your way with many ingredient options. The Great Start is the best value in all of Harbor Country with a generous serving of eggs prepared to order, side of breakfast potatoes or fruit and a serving of toast or English muffin. Their oatmeal is awesome. Lunch offerings include the Bistro Burger is a good-sized burger on the best toasted bun I've ever had and is paired with fries or even better...the rosemary potatoes. I enjoyed the Pot Roast Sandwich last week, served open-faced with just the right amount of gravy. The pot roast was tender and very moist. They recently added a full-service bar and dinner service on the weekends. The dinner menu is wonderful with Steak, Chicken, Pot Roast, Seafood and Pasta options. Paired with a glass of wine, dinner pricing is a great value too!

Hey there! I will be writing this review as I am experiencing Elm Street Bistro. What happens is completely up to them. I have never been here before, the song and decor is small but nice to look at. Ordered a coffee, egg-white omelet with just their veggies, a side of hash browns and rye toast (no butter). I ordered at 10:57 AM Coffee came with no spoon - not a big deal, they promptly brought me a spoon :) Coffee isn't very good, but I've had worse. Food arrived at 11:03 AM! Super-fast! The food was great, made just the way I wanted, service was far and friendly... overall a really good experience!

Had breakfast there for the first time a month ago. Waitress was lacking in social skills, no smiles, no friendliness at all. Finally got water to drink and coffee. Long wait on food which was tasty. Unfortunately she would be the only reason we would hesitate to drop in again.

I had heard great things about the breakfast here but was only able to make it in for lunch. I ordered the Blt and my husband had the chicken caesar salad. They were both ok. The place is quiet and had a cute decor. I will be coming back for breakfast soon.

Very disappointed. Service was unbearably slow and food when it finally arrived was less than mediocre...

The food is great, the new patio is awesome. Patience is a virtue, and occasionally needed when busy... but why are you in such a hurry? Chill and enjoy.

It was open after 8 on a Sunday, we felt lucky to find it in Three Oaks. Had a lovely order of mussels with a nicely paired white wine and our waitress was very accommodating to get us to the 9pm show at the Vickers. Delightful evening! One note: a former reviewer claimed it was not family friendly, but we witnessed a young family enjoying a leisurely meal with their infant with no problems.
